Ever since I can remember, I have had a keen aptitude for observation, observation of people. I remember a game that I used to play with my late grandfather when I was just a little kid. He and I would sit on a park bench, and we would sit there and look at the people around us. We would tell each other stories about these people based upon what we saw, and these stories used to be so much fun to me as a child. I realize now, that what we used to do was broadly what is psychological behavioral profiling.
From my idle hours spent in the restaurants (observing people) to making spontaneous decisions (such as choosing a queue at the supermarket based on the kind of people in the queue and the cashier), applied psychology has played an integrally vital role in my life till date.
I have always been fascinated by the broad spectrum in which the human psyche functions. From mass murderers like John Wayne Gacy (also known to many as the Killer Clown) to the much more commonly known infamous Ted Bundy, and other dark souls such as Jared Lee Loughner, Eric Rudolf, David Berkovitz, Ted Kazinsky, Judy Clarke, and several others on one end of the spectrum to Mother Teresa, Indira Gandhi, Mahatma Gandhi, Pope Jon Paul II, Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King Jr, Bill Gates and others on the other end of the spectrum, the shear and utter divergence of the human psyche addles me.
I know, in my heart, that the center of my aptitude encircles psychology. Being able to contribute to the society by the study of the human psyche is my aim, and I want to do so primarily through a study of the operational dynamics of the minds of violent criminals in a qualitative, quantitative, and clinical way.
I am certain, that through the excellent faculty and resources of your university, I can develop the required skills to be able to make myself enterprising in this field of study.
